It’s best planted in its own dedicated bed so that you can harvest the roots easily later on. it is a herbaceous perennial plant, meaning the foliage will die back over winter and roots stay alive. Ideally, this dye plant is harvest 4 years after seed sowing - when roots have reached a pencil-thick size. The dye produces amazing red and pinks.

Spacing: 30 x 30cm
Summary: Madder is a perennial so will flower and set seed from the second year. Sow into trays and prick out into 9cm pots for storage over winter. Plant out in Spring once chance of frost has passed.
